Writing

Shater went live in the middle of a semester, between assignments, with a feature list that embarrassed me. It didn't matter. The first paying user taught me more in one week than a month of polishing would have — what they actually opened, what they ignored, what they'd pay for twice.

Waiting until it feels ready is just fear with a roadmap. The version you're ashamed of is the only one that can collect real answers, and real answers compound faster than code.

Most apps treat Arabic as a translation pass at the end: flip the layout, run the strings through a service, ship. Users can feel it instantly. The copy reads like a manual, the humor doesn't land, and the product stays something borrowed.

ضياع starts from the other end — the name itself is untranslatable on purpose. Building for Saudi and MENA first means the small things are native: the tone, the streak that respects Ramadan, the notification that sounds like a friend. That's not localization. That's the product.
